Establishing what Software you have

Before you can do anything in the Software Asset Management arena you need to know what you have installed in the way of software.

It is important to know that as far as software vendors are concerned, if software is installed it requires a license whether it is used or not. This may result in a dramatic difference between what software licenses you legally require in comparison with the amount of software you believe your employees to be using.
